🐾 Barkridge Kennels – Dog Boarding & Grooming in Canning Vale, Perth

​Welcome to Barkridge Kennels, a trusted, family-run dog boarding and grooming facility in Canning Vale, Perth. We provide a safe, structured and calm environment where dogs of all breeds and sizes can stay comfortably while their owners are away.

Our kennels are purpose-built with individual accommodation, climate control, structured routines and supervised play. Below you’ll find everything you need to know before booking your dog’s stay.

📍 Where is Barkridge Boarding Kennels located?

Barkridge Kennels is located in Canning Vale, Perth, Western Australia, servicing dog owners across Canning Vale and surrounding suburbs. We offer secure, shaded and professionally managed dog boarding for short and long stays.

🐶 What services does Barkridge provide?

We offer:

  • Dog boarding (short and long term stays)

  • Dog grooming (optional extra or standalone service)

All services are delivered in a safe, supervised and professional kennel environment.

⏰ What are your drop-off and pick-up times?

Drop-off and pick-up are strictly available:
8:00–9:00am and 4:00–5:00pm

To help us safely manage dogs moving through the facility, we ask that:

  • Guests arrive on time

  • If possible, you message us your estimated time of arrival from Google Maps when you’re on the way (for example: “Google Maps says we’ll be at Barkridge at 8:15am”)

On arrival:

  • The first building on the left is the kennel

  • Please do not drive past the kennels to the house, we'll meet you at the kennels

  • Wait at the kennel and message us if we haven’t greeted you

  • Please do not enter the kennel, as dogs may be moving through the facility

🏠 Can I visit or tour the facility before booking?

To keep the environment calm and reduce stress for the dogs, we try to minimise in-person facility tours.

Instead, we share regular photos and videos of our kennels, routines and dogs across our Facebook and Instagram pages, so you can see exactly where your dog will be staying. A tour can be arranged if required during our opening hours.

📸 Will I receive updates or photos of my dog?

We regularly post photos and videos on Facebook and Instagram showing dogs enjoying their stay.

We’re unable to provide individual photo updates on request, as our focus is hands-on care for all dogs. Every dog gets their turn 🐾✨  photos are shared when time allows.

🌡️ How do you care for dogs in hot weather?

On warm and hot days, dogs are carefully rotated with rest periods.

Our kennels are:

  • Fully insulated

  • Cooled with large evaporative air conditioners

  • Supported by water misters

Dogs are never over-exerted in hot conditions with comfort being our highest priority.

🐕 What is a typical day like at Barkridge?

Dogs move through play, rest and quiet time based on energy levels, temperament and weather conditions.

Typical daily routine:

  • 4:30–6:30am – Play and toilet time

  • 6:30–8:00am – Breakfast and cleaning

  • 8:00–9:00am – Drop-off and pick-up window

  • 9:00–3:00pm – Rotational play (individual kennel → shaded run → open run, weather permitting)

  • 3:00–4:00pm – Play, toilet and cleaning

  • 4:00–5:00pm – Drop-off and pick-up window

  • 5:00–6:00pm – Dinner (if required), final toilet and bed

Each dog has their own individual kennel, unless they are from the same family.

🐕‍🦺 Can my dog play with other dogs?

Supervised play is available with owner consent and is based on temperament, compatibility and safety.

Dogs are never mixed unless we are confident they will get along. Safety always comes first.

🛁 Do you offer grooming?

Yes. Grooming is available as an optional extra for boarding guests and can also be booked as a standalone service.

Grooming must be added at the time of booking so we can allocate time correctly.

🍽️ What do you feed the dogs?

We feed Royal Canin biscuits and Pet’s Tucka, with timings as listed in our KennelBooker when you book online. 

You’re welcome to bring your dog’s own food. Please ensure:

  • Food is clearly labelled

  • Meals are portioned for your dog’s benefit

🧸 Can I bring my dog’s bed or toys?

Yes, beds and toys are welcome and can help dogs feel more settled.

Please note that we cannot take responsibility if personal items are damaged or destroyed during your dog’s stay.

💊 What if my dog is on medication or has health needs?

If your dog is on medication or has any health conditions, please let us know prior to check-in.

This allows us to confirm we can meet your dog’s needs without placing unnecessary stress on them.

👶 Can children enter the kennel?

For safety reasons, children are not permitted inside the kennel facility.

Goodbyes can be done from the driveway if needed.

📹 How safe is Barkridge Kennels?

Our facility is:

  • Fully fenced and secure

  • Cleaned daily

  • Supervised by experienced staff

  • Monitored with 24/7 CCTV

Your dog will be safe, comfortable and well cared for at all times.

🗓️ Do you board dogs during school holidays and peak periods?

Yes. We board dogs during school holidays, Christmas and long weekends. These periods book out quickly, so early reservations are strongly recommended.

🐾 Is there a minimum stay?

Yes, we have a minimum stay of two nights to help us manage capacity and maintain a calm environment.

🐶 Eligibility & Vaccination Requirements

To ensure the health and safety of all dogs in our care:

  • Dogs must be at least 12 weeks (3 months) old

  • Dogs must be fully vaccinated (C3 or C5)

  • Proof of current vaccination must be uploaded to your dog’s Kennelbooker profile prior to arrival

  • Dogs must arrive up to date with flea and worming treatments

🚫 Right to Decline or Cancel a Booking

Barkridge reserves the right to decline or cancel a booking where:

  • Health or vaccination requirements are not met

  • Behaviour or temperament presents a risk to the dog, other dogs, or staff

  • Capacity limits are reached or operational constraints apply

This decision is always made in the best interests of safety and welfare of both staff and guests.

💳 Payment & Fees
  • All boarding fees are payable prior to check-in, unless agreed in writing

  • Any additional charges (including veterinary care, extra services or out-of-hours fees) must be paid before collection

⏱️ Out-of-Hours Arrivals & Departures
  • Out-of-hours access is by prior approval only

  • Additional fees may apply

  • Unannounced walk-ins cannot be accepted

  • If an out of hours time has not been approved, entry may be refused to maintain safety

If you are running early or late, please call or text 0459 471 195 so we can prepare safely. To support a calm environment, we ask that arrivals and departures occur within the allocated time window.

🐕 Non-Collection / Abandonment

If a dog is not collected on the agreed date and we are unable to contact the owner or nominated emergency contact after reasonable attempts within 14 days, the dog may be treated as abandoned.

In accordance with applicable laws, the dog may be transferred to a local ranger, pound or approved rescue organisation.

Owners remain responsible for all outstanding boarding, care and administration costs. (We do not sell pets.)

🚑 Emergency Veterinary Treatment
  • Your dog’s health and welfare are our highest priority.

  • All owners must provide a current emergency contact who is authorised to make decisions on their behalf if they are unavailable. This ensures we can act quickly in the best interests of your dog if required. These details will be recorded on Kennelbooker for access to all our staff.

  • If a dog becomes unwell or is injured during their stay and emergency veterinary treatment is required, Barkridge will act immediately to protect the dog’s wellbeing.

  • Where possible, we will attempt to contact the owner or nominated emergency contact before seeking treatment. However, if the situation is urgent and delay would risk the dog’s health, we may proceed without prior contact.

  • “Emergency treatment is rare, but this policy allows us to act quickly if required.”

By boarding at Barkridge, you authorise us to:

  • Arrange emergency veterinary care if required

  • Transport your dog to a veterinarian or emergency clinic

  • Approve necessary treatment as advised by a qualified veterinary professional

  • All veterinary fees, transport costs and related expenses remain the responsibility of the owner.

  • We take all reasonable care to monitor dogs during their stay, but kennel environments can involve inherent risks, including sudden illness, stress-related issues or the progression of pre-existing conditions. Prompt action allows us to give dogs the best possible outcome.

  • If your dog has existing medical conditions, special care needs or a preferred veterinarian, please ensure this information is provided prior to check-in.

🦠 Illness & Kennel Environment
  • While we maintain high hygiene standards and monitor dogs closely, kennel environments carry an inherent risk of infectious illnesses such as kennel cough or gastro intestinal upset. By boarding at Barkridge, owners acknowledge and accept this risk.

🐾 Behavioural Disclosure
  • Owners are responsible for disclosing any known behavioural concerns prior to booking, including aggression, anxiety, escape behaviour or resource guarding. Failure to disclose relevant information may result in refusal or early termination of a stay if safety is compromised.

🔥 Dogs in Heat & Desexing Status
  • Dogs in season (heat) or with hormonal behaviours may require modified routines or separation for safety.

  • Barkridge reserves the right to decline or adjust care arrangements where necessary.

📸 Photos & Marketing

With your consent, Barkridge may take photos or videos of your dog during their stay for updates or marketing purposes, including use on social media or our website.

🤍 A final note

We understand that leaving your dog can be stressful. At Barkridge, our priority is the care, safety, and wellbeing of the dogs in our care. For this reason, we’re unable to provide daily individual updates or respond to update requests.

We post regular photos and videos on Facebook and Instagram so owners can follow along.
